A Signle Sunlight Photography Approach

Polina
Yesterday I was shooting a portfolio for a want-to-be-a-model girl (name - Polina). We didn't go any far, just climbed on the roof and used the sunlight as the main and the only source of light. And here I want to share how I created this light to illuminate the girl.

Let's start with the diagram, which tells the whole story:
Single Light Portrait
As you see there is only one piece of equipment, except the camera, which I used here - the translucent reflector. I am not sure about your reflector, but mine could be stripped of all those reflective surfaces (gold, silver, white, black). And the core of the reflector is the ring with the translucent fabric, just a large diffuser.
The good thing about such diffuser is that it creates soft, smooth light in all directions. Which significantly softens the shadows; and if you place your subject closer to the diffuser the light engulfs the subject creating a very nice radiant light pattern. And that's exactly what I've done.
As well we can count some ambient light produced by the blue sky and the grey cover on the roof.

After I set the diffuser and measured the exposure, I turned Polina slightly toward the light and took the shot (with many others).

Note: The background drowned in the shadow of the big tree. And the shallow aperture (4-5.6) blurred it even more. Exposure data: 1/125 at f4.0 ISO 100. No flash.
Photoshop: In post-processing I blurred and darkened the borders of the frame, to capture the eye within the image. And you have to watch for some hot spots that could be created by being too close to the diffuser
