Why I Wait For iPhone 2.0 - A Business Tool

iPhone There is no doubt iPhone is a great thing even if some people find a few flaws in it. It could be a great business tool for a photographer. Just consider its marketing capabilities especially with all this hype and excitement around it. Just the simple possession of it makes you attractive and interesting, isn't it?
And then with all regular office applications (i.e. email, calendar, maps, Google documents, etc.) it's already quite useful and friendly. I agree the keyboard is something to get used to, I failed at my first try :). But then think about the video and photos, does it remind you of something in photographers marketing? For me it looks like a mobile portfolio, which is always with you.

Burn (But Don’t Get Burned)

Burn CD/DVD/HD
New media formats (HD DVD and Blue Ray) are invading the market and it becomes harder to decide which format is right for you and your business - storing thousands of the photographs. Also some issues accompany each of the choices and the whole approach overall. The article "Burn (But Don’t Get Burned)" at RangeFinder.com cast some light and helps us to make an educated decision.

Photo Attorney

You and I know that people in this country are very cautious about the law. There are many hidden pitfalls and "twilight-zone-like" areas. And it's good to know those underwater riffs to ensure a peaceful travel for our business. To help us out a blog of Carolyn E. Wright comes - PhotoAttorney. In her blog you will find some educational content (not quite legal advise) about various photography related topics. For example, the recent story about Brady Quinn appearing in wedding gallery is explained from the legal perspective, which tells us that the wedding photographer hasn't done anything wrong. Good to know! :)

Pay Yourself What You're Worth! But, what's that?

Photographer's Salary
In the recent post at "Photo Business News & Forum" by John Harrington he points us to the latest data on salary of photographers. And speaks about how people value photography (most of the time they think they can do it themselves). Quite interesting I would say. At the link he provides you can see what the salary distribution is of a photographer for your city or region (zip code based). It seems in Washington DC (where I reside) the salary is slightly higher, and it is expected as for all major cities.
But I was thinking about the general trend of being a photographer and expectation of high salary. It seems that such a job is not quite what some people can expect. Of course, they accounted for all of the types of photographers, not only wedding photography, but photojournalism, portraiture, architecture and bunch of others. Though I wasn't able to find any results for a wedding photographer, which sometimes claimed to be one of the highest payed jobs out there (and for very little work).
Well, read more in the John's post.
