Beware: TheKnot Of Your Noose!

Sometimes you don't know where you will be hurt. Most people expect good results of their marketing campaigns, so did I. It turned out that TheKnot.com is pretty much like the knot of my noose.

In August I decided to try out TheKnot.com and post my ad over there. Since I had no idea what kind of ROI (i.e. visits) I could expect out of it, I wanted to try for one month and with maximum output - the best place and presentation of the ad. Photo Gallery: Cumberland (October 28, 2007)

Cumberland
After a long absence I emerged in old Cumberland town. With each mile that separated me from Washington DC the load of work and tiredness chipped away. This amazing world once again filled my mind and imagination.

Face Detection for Wedding Photographers

Wedding photography is about being quick and accurate. You have to think quickly where to be and what scene or people to take a picture of, then quickly move to the vantage point, and finally to compose and acquire sharp focus. You can easily throw here a few more things to do and think of. But even the sequence from envisioning an image and actually taking a great shot could be long enough to miss the opportunity.
Nowadays, the manufacturers of the photo gear help use do our tasks faster and with better results. Now, it doesn't take photographer 10 minutes to take a shot, it take a fraction of a second. But still we wish for more. And, I think, the research and development of face detection system could really help us with some of the tasks - accurate metering and focusing. Canon actually has taken some good steps in this direction. Here is a review of face detection system in Canon PowerShot G9. I only wish that more advanced cameras employ this feature really soon :)
