eCart 3.7.0 - Take Your Shopping Cart to the Next Level.

eCart
The idea to create an eShop on my website was floating for a long time in my silly head. Actually, I've even started this endeavour, but has not completed :). And here is what I discovered in deep ocean called Internet - WebAssist eCart. It integrates with Macromedia Dreamweaver and PayPal Pro (but not the only one). So you process your transactions and credit cards seamlessly. There are a lot more to it:

  • Powerful, flexible shopping cart control
    • Custom shopping cart columns
    • Create shopping carts your way
    • User-definable calculations
    • International support
  • Unparalleled checkout options
    • Leading gateway providers supported (AuthorizeNet, LinkPoint, PayFlow, PayPal Website Payments Standard, 2CheckOut, WebAssist Payment Gateway, and WorldPay)
    • Personalized checkout configurations
    • Real-time FedEx and UPS shipping
    • Same site checkout options
    • Complete form creation
  • Expertly-designed shopping cart displays
    • Professionally crafted designs
    • Different shopping cart types available (Updateable cart, Read-only cart, QuickCart, Email-friendly Cart)
    • Show and calculate discounts and charges
  • All the tutorials and examples you need
    • Premium support incidents included
    • Getting started guide and contextual help
    • Complete sample store
    • Administrative example
  • Application Server Models
    • Coldfusion 5.x and later
    • ASP JavaScript
    • ASP VBScript
    • PHP 4.2 +
  • Databases
    • Microsoft Access
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Oracle
    • MySQL 4 and MySQL 5

And it is considerably cheap - $199.
Check out their website for more information!

Online Lens Rentals for Canon and Nikon (d)SLR

ZipLens
You probably heard of or seen the Zip Cars? Yes, those which you could rent for a day or more. They are parked in convinient places (i.e. by metro stations). The same picture is with the lens - they are parked online (very convinient) and you could rent them. I think, this is a great start for those guys and gals who want to try to shoot a wedding or some assignment, but lack the ability to buy the gear right away. Wedding photography requires fast lens and those are pretty expensive. Or if you shoot architecture assignment, you probably will need tilt and shift lens, which as well available at ZipLens (I almost wrote - ZipCars :)).

Photoshop Tip - Quick Opacity

PS Tip
Sometimes we need to paint, stamp or dodge and burn using just a portion of the full force of the tool, which means - changing opacity. As well, usually, it means that we have to divert our attention, move the mouse to the tool bar and do a few additional clicks. At least this is the most obvious way. But with a simple shortcut we can pick any 10% step from 0 to 100%. How? Easy, simply press the number 1 through 0. 1 stands for 10% and 0 for 100%.

Jelbert GeoTagger - Camera GPS in Flash Hot Shoe

GeoTagger.jpg
Thanks to Engadget we found this new piece of equipment - Jelbert GeoTagger. It combines the Garmin and RoboGEO together and creates a complete package for photographers that need to track their geographical locations for each shot:

When each photograph is taken, the Jelbert GeoTagger receives a signal via the flash shoe that tells it to capture the current location and direction data from the GPS receiver. It stores it on the built-in SD FLASH memory card and records data relating to:

  • Latitude and Longitude
  • Magnetic compass direction
  • Time and date

At the end of the photo session, the location information is merged with the photographs. This must be done using 3rd party software such as RoboGEO (purchased separately). The data is merged automatically by referencing the date and time stamp on each photograph with the date and time stamp of each record on the SD card.

The Battle of Standarsville

The Battle of Standarsville
It started as a cloudy day with a forecast of rain ahead of me. Anyway I went ahead and took my cat with me. In the mountains we had a a nice walk in the fog at Big Meadows. But the greatest surprise and reward waited us at Route 33. Just after leaving the mountains the re-enactment show apeared, and below our report on what happened that day...
